Driving back home

For anyone who doesn't know already, my dad broke his collar bone and wrist while he was on an unfamiliar biking trail in Alberta, so we had to go home earlier than expected. Here are some photos and stories from the drive back home. :)

Day 1:
I think I have told the story about Teddy Jr. at least 5 times and I am going to tell it again here because it needs to be shared to the internet world... It's really not that amazing, but I thought it was pretty special!

We were on our way home, driving fast, when suddenly somethings hits me in the face and lands on my lap. I look down and it is Teddy Jr. The grasshopper. He has guts (or maybe it was poop) on my leg and he tries to jump, but he doesn't get very far and lands on the seat. I let him sit there, until later on where I pick him up and put a small puddle of water in my palm. He is on the tip of my finger and rushes over to the puddle and drinks. It was magical. But unfortunately later on Teddy Jr. is not doing so good... He is barely moving. I put him on a nice tree branch outside of our hotel and say goodbye. And that is my story.

The sun was crazy red. You could stare right at it and it wouldn't blind you.

On the left side of this photo you can see a tiny black blob. It is a bear cub! This is the first bear I have ever seen in my life. Having nightmares about them and mistaking dogs for bears obviously does not count.

A few minutes later we saw some more babies. 3 of them! They were so cute!

Run baby run!

Day 2:
It was extremely smokey in some parts. Almost hard to breath.

But we made it through...

Compared to the time it took us to get up, the time it got us to come down seemed so fast and before I knew it we were on the ferry... It was so nice to smell the ocean and to see the trees and the mountains.

I am so happy to be home. I know appreciate the island in a whole new way. <3

That is such a cute story, I want to hear it in person one day! And also, bear cubs! They look like people wearing costumes, haha.
